KVEW TV in Kennewick, WA is seeking a detail-oriented candidate to work in our Master Control department.   If you are comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and can think quickly in a pressure situation, then we want to hear from you!


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • On air switching, program recording & prep

  • Aggressive monitoring of network transmissions for quality control

  • Solve/troubleshoot problems in a crisis situation, i.e., computer/equipment malfunction or failure

  • Keep detailed logs and maintain records

  • Read television programming log to ascertain name of program or station break, and at what time program or station break is scheduled to air


REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to do quick and accurate basic math

  • Good knowledge of computer use

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work without supervision

  • Constant attention to detail and excellent project management skills a must

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment and think quickly under pressure

  • Knowledge of basic video file formats and non-linear video editing is a plus

  • Solid understanding of file and folder management under Windows 7

  • Knowledge of Grass Valley Edius Software is a plus

  • Ability to watch several monitors at once while listening to multiple audio sources

  • Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds or more

  • 1 year Master Control experience and/or 2 years college or technical school, preferred

  • SBE Operator Certification, preferred

KAPP/KVEW TV is searching for a breaking news anchor who will create compelling content each morning for our website, apps, mobile site and social media platforms, then tell those stories on air. You’ll work out of our Kennewick office, alongside the producer and morning show host to produce and present developing local and national content for our morning TV newscast. You’ll also use data and digital metrics to understand morning digital audience behavior and deliver content to that audience. The ideal journalist is a smart, creative, hard-working team player who finds new opportunities to tell stories that connect our audience to their community. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Discover and post breaking and developing local news stories – first online, then on air

  • Lead breaking news coverage from a designated breaking news set in studio

  • Write – and, in some cases, ad-lib – breaking and developing stories as they unfold

  • Produce and anchor multiple daily reports for Good Morning Northwest

  • Build news segments using ABC and CNN news feeds, AP wires and online resources

  • Research, create and publish text, photos, and video to the web and social media

  • Work with the news director and digital team on a plan that maximizes success


REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year degree in journalism, communications or equivalent field preferred

  • Ability to present breaking news from the studio with or without scripting

  • News judgement to report breaking news accurately and properly

  • Experience in sourcing breaking information

  • Working knowledge of newsroom computer and content management systems

  • Knowledge of popular and emerging social media platforms

  • Ensure the transmission meets FCC regulations

  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions

REQUIREMENTS

  • AA or two years of experience in television production preferred

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
